Patsy Ann Kroeger Hentzen, 75, of Idaho Falls, died at her home on November 29, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving family. Patsy was born February 18, 1940 in Carroll, Iowa, to Wilbur and Lillian Kroeger. She grew up on a farm near Lidderdale, Iowa and attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and grade school there. She graduated from Carroll High School, worked on year, and then graduated from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska in 1962. She started her teaching career in a Lutheran grade school in Omaha, NE. She met Richard Hentzen of Seward, and they were married on August 9, 1964. While he finished his education at the University of Nebraska, she taught in a Lutheran grade school in Lincoln, NE. They moved to Idaho Falls in October 1969 and she stared theaching at Hope Lutheran School. She remained an active member of Hope Lutheran until her death. Her son eric was born in 1971, followed by David in 1972. This did result in her going to part-time teaching at Hope, which she continued until retiring after four decades. She enjoyed watching her sons' many athletic activities. Patsy acquired a love of fishing from her parents, and continued fishing when she could until this last August. She also had a love for travel, visiting most of the 48, Hawaii many times, and Alaska. She took her whole family on an Alaska Cruise to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in 2014. She also traveled extensively with her 3 sisters to Europe, Israel, Turkey, Iceland, New Zealand, Australia and other places. The husbands were even included on a few of these trips.
In 2005 she found out she had multiple myeloma. Thanks to Doctors, Castro, Garfin and the staff at UCSD, and Dr. Shull and the staff at the Teton Cancer Center, she continued to have an active life until the last few months. Her final days were under the loving care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Paul. Surviving are her husband, Rich, sons, Eric (Caroline) of Encinitas, CA., and David (Jenniffer) of Idaho Falls, sisters, Marge Mohr of Odebolt, Iowa, Bonnie (Gil) Daenzer of Seward, NE., and Joyce (David) Wenck of Hudson, WI; grandchildren, Jackson, Ryan, Edward and Alina; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved exchange student "daughter" Dani from Rio de Janerio. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 at Hope Lutheran Church. A viewing will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 Friday at the Church. A private committal service will be held at a later date in Nebraska.
