Alfred Berreth, 92, of Fruitland, went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2014. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 4th at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Alfred was born Jan. 11, 1922 in Artas, SD to Paul and Emilia (Schauer) Berreth. This is where he grew up and went to school. He married Alma Heiser on March 14, 1943. They had two boys, Richard and Ronald. They farmed in the rural Artas area and then moved to Lead, SD where he worked in the gold mines. In 1956 they moved to Oregon and then to Idaho where he started Al's Cleaning Service in Caldwell. Al and his son, Richard formed Al & Rich Cleaning Service in Boise in 1965. Al and his wife Alma were missionaries to old Mexico in the late 1960's. After they retired they sang and played instruments for numerous rest homes in the Ontario and Payette area. Al loved to work in his shop on wood and enjoyed his garden. He was an all-around fix-it man, making and refurbishing fishing rods and reels. He is survived by his wife, Alma of Fruitland; son, Richard and wife, Melvena of Ontario; daughter-in-law, Joy Tyler of Boise; three grandchildren, Roger and Melissa Berreth of Meridian, Suzanne and Aaron Smith of Salem, OR, and Reggie (Berreth) and Kathryn Russell of Anchorage, AK; three step grandchildren, Jeff Tyler of Maine, Jake Tyler of Dickinson, ND and Jessie Tyler of Boise. Al was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and his son, Ron.
