Peter Templeton Isaksen

Peter was born at Nassau Community Hospital in Oceanside, Nassau County, NY on October 20, 1948, and passed away on April 14, 2016. He was the son of Shirley Cowell and the late John Isaksen. He was big brother to Scott (Marves) and Donald; Uncle to Kristin (Jared Abramowitz), Erik (Krissy), Danny (Daria), and Keri (Brad Orr); and Great Uncle to Dane, Stella, Colin, Olivia, Brody, and Caleb. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. He grew up in Oceanside, graduating with honors from Oceanside High School. He attended the State University of New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyler graduating with a BS in Nuclear Engineering, and then served as an officer in the US Coast Guard for four years. After his tour in the Coast Guard he moved to Idaho Falls and worked at the Idaho National Laboratory as a nuclear engineer. Pete was a member of a variety of charitable and service organizations including the Shriners, Eagle Lodge, Elks, and served as chairman for the Idaho State Elks Americanism organization for seven years. Pete took full advantage of his early retirement and loved boating, rafting, skiing, golf, playing card games, singing karaoke and dancing. He also enjoyed several Corvette rallies and several cruises and trips to visit family and friends.
