Phyllis Arlene Smith Rhodes

Phyllis Arlene Rhodes, 82, of Payette, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at an assisted living facility in Payette. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Payette Nazarene Church. Pastor Mike Allen will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Payette. Friends may call from 10 am to 12 noon on Tuesday October 23, 2012 at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Phyllis was born on August 18, 1930 in Gibbon, Nebraska to James and Jennie (McPherson) Smith. She moved to the Oregon Slope in 1942. There, she attended Pioneer Grade School and Ontario High School. She married H. A. Rhodes in Vale, Oregon on June 18, 1969. She lived most of her life there.
Phyllis was a member the Payette Nazarene Church. She was an avid gardener and loved doing puzzles. To her nieces and nephews she was their second mother.
She is survived by her sister, Mae Frates of Nampa, ID; brothers, James Smith of Welton, AZ; Norman Smith of Lewiston, ID; Jack Smith of San Felipe, Mexico; many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis as preceded in death by her husband H.A. Rhodes, mother and father Jennie and James Smith, sister Marilyn Briggs, brothers Hugh, Willard, Tom Smith.
