Ray Ellis Ferguson

July 10, 1932 — April 4, 2014

Ray Ferguson, 81, of Payette, passed away peacefully Friday, April 4, 2014 at home.
Ray was born July 10, 1932 in Lead, South Dakota where his dad worked in the Black Hills Gold mine. Ray moved, with his family, to Payette in the early 40's. After graduating from Payette High School, Ray enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War where he served as a bomber mechanic. During his tour, he traveled to many foreign countries. After being honorably discharged, he gained employment with Boeing in Seattle. When his fathers health began to decline, Ray returned to Payette. Soon after, he began working for the US Post office and continued there until his retirement 33 years later. Ray married Harriett Clark in May of 1965 and together they raised two sons. In 1978, Ray and Harriett began to build the home of their dreams. Evenings and weekends were devoted to the project. It was a hands on experience that would take them six and a half years to complete. Ray also found time for gardening which he enjoyed immensely.
Ray is survived by his sons, Gary Ferguson (Gina) and Terry Ferguson (Terresa), two nephews, Connor and Trevor. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Harriett and a sister, Dorothy Worley of Burns, OR.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Shauna Bartus for her loving care of Ray. Shauna went above and beyond in everything she did to ensure that Ray was taken care of in the most loving and respectful way possible. Thank you Shauna!!!
