Renalda Rose Christensen, 85, passed away on November 7, 2012 at Mount Vernon Assisted Living Facility in Idaho Falls. She was born on September 10, 1927 in Scranton, Arkansas to John and Rose Kresse Newman. She was the fifth child of seven. She moved to Idaho Falls at the age of seventeen and became a nanny for the Stanley Spencer Family with five children. She met and married Don Christensen on September 10, 1948 and they had two children, Larry and Donna. Together they owned and operated the 191 Club in Idaho Falls and later the Bone Store. She cleaned houses for many years while also running these businesses. She later went to work at Sears and retired from there twenty-five years later. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Her hobbies included fishing, going to her son's ranch, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and gardening. She was hard a worker, loving and feisty.
Survivors include her son, Larry ( Beverly) Christensen, and daughter, Donna ( Harley) Rish of Idaho Falls, and step-son, Don (Gloria) Ellingwood of Rigby; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard Newman of Wichita, Kansas, and a sister, Angie Ahne of Conway Springs, Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Don; three brothers, Matt, George and Steve; and one sister, Monica.
A mass of the Christen Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 145 9th Street in Idaho Falls, with Father Raul Covarrubias, celebrant. Burial will follow at the Iona Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a viewing following from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls.
