Renell Weeks, age 77, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Rexburg, Idaho. He was born prematurely to Ivan and Edith Weeks at Idaho Falls. Renell, his siblings and his cousins rode horses to Rainey Dell Grade School. Renell remained an equestrian all of his life. He was a good student and musician. He did his share of the work around the family ranch. Renell loved Swan Valley and did not like being away for even a short time.
On December 1, 1957, a reckless hunter mistook Renell for an elk. One shot left Renell with one leg nearly shot off. Renell was hospitalized for two months until it became necessary to amputate below the knee. Pain and discomfort would follow him the rest of his life. God used this life changing event. He started to read his Bible (John Chapter 3) and asked Jesus to be his Savior. Renell loved the Bible and the timeless truths found there. His testimony was "I lost my leg that I might gain my soul." When the Swan Valley Chapel of the Valley was built, Renell spent much time there.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Weeks; a son, Mark (Marilee) all of Swan Valley; a daughter, Heather (Pavel) Nicolae of Romania; two sisters, Freda (Laroy) Tollbom of Richland, Washington, and Karma Kelsey of Solon, Ohio; and four grandchildren; Sara, Luke, Joshua, and David.
