IDAHO FALLS - Rex Duke, 76, of Idaho Falls, Idaho died Thursday June 7, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born on July 11, 1935, in Arco, Idaho to Nellie and Leo Duke. He graduated from Butte High School and worked for Van Gas. He moved to Pocatello, Idaho and worked for Van Gas as a service man. He married Leonora Emery and they lived in Pocatello, Idaho. Rex joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union #648. He was very active in the union affairs. He worked for many contractors at the INL site and others. He taught Apprenticeship School for the Local Union #648. He went to work for Industrial Contractors in Idaho Falls. After that he moved to Boise as a welding engineer for Morris Knutsen in their office and traveled a lot. He then moved back to Idaho Falls and ran a welding Engineer for C.P.P. and from there he retired.
Rex loved to do Black Powder Shooting and he went to many rendezvous and made many friends. He traveled a lot around the country. He loved history and traveled to Gettysburg, Shilo and many more places. Camping was a big part of his life and hiking and exploring. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his wife, Leonora Duke; son, Greg Duke; daughter, Rebecca (John) McQuary; and sister, Jan Marie Christensen. Rex has eight grandchildren, Kenneth, Crystal Lee, Parker and Chris Duke and Barrie Jo, Tawny, Ryan and Curtis McQuary. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Duke, his parents, Leo and Nellie Duke, three brothers, Don, Robert and Duane Duke. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at New Sweden Cemetery in Idaho Falls. Burial will follow. A viewing will be held from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls.REX DUKE
