Richard James Bonney, 88, joined his wife on Saturday, March 26, 2016. Richard was the son of Milton Samuel and Gladys Irene Place Bonney. He was born February 25, 1928 in Cranesville, Pennsylvania. He married Lois Ann Miller on February 11, 1948. They shared 67 years of marriage, before Lois passed away in August of 2015. Richard retired from the Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer, serving his country for 25 years. He retired with his wife in Kenosha, Wis. While visiting friends in Island Park, Idaho, they immediately knew this would be where they would spend their retirement years, snowmobiling and enjoying life in the beautiful Island Park area for 26 years. They ultimately settled in Idaho Falls for nearly 17 years. One of Richard's greatest pleasures was spending time fishing with his children and grandchildren. He served as a state park ranger at Henry's Lake State Park for over 15 years, where he enjoyed being surrounded by his friends and family. Winters were spent with his wife in Quartzsite, Arizona and Alamo State Park, where he was a volunteer. The greatest family memory is that we were always greeted with a hug-his home was ALWAYS open! We can only imagine the joyous family reunion that he and his wife are experiencing together! Survivors include, Richard (Beatrice) Bonney II, of Boise, Kathleen, (David-deceased)King, of Idaho Falls, Michael (Danna) Bonney, of Idaho Falls, Jill (Barb) Bonney, of Lake Stevens, Washington, Jack (Mary) Bonney of Boise, Dan (Leslie) Bonney of Idaho Falls; 14 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 2, 12 pm at Holy Rosary, 145 9th St. Idaho Falls. Father Raul will be officiating. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hands of Hope Hospice. Online condolences may be left at www.buckmillerhann.com
