Dick was born on February 18, 1940 in Cass Lake, Minnesota, the son of George and Stella (Helland) Dargie. Dick grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Cass Lake High School in the Class of 1958. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy and trained as an Aviation Electronics Technician (AT). He worked for Mountain Bell/US West and retired in 1997. On June 17, 1967 he married Cathy Carney in Boise, Idaho. They lived in Auburn, WA; Boise, ID; and settled in Shelley, ID in 1977. They recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary. He was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Idaho Falls and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Elks and Eagles Lodges. Dick loved to hunt, fish, camp, garden, work with wood, and tinker with electronics. He even had his own electronics business, JAMPT Electronics, which stood for Jenn, Ann, Mike, Pam and Tom. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Dusty Roth; a sister, Marian Hansen; and a brother, Jim Dargie. Survivors include his wife, Cathy (Carney) Dargie, of Shelley, ID; five children: Ann Mize of Lynnwood, WA; Michael (Vicki) Dargie of Maricopa, AZ; Thomas (Berta) Dargie of Idaho Falls, ID; Pam (Craig) Kantack of Idaho Falls, ID; Jenny Mulberry (Ken Meyer) of Idaho Falls, ID; and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Cliff (Mary) Dargie; a sister, Bernice Bounds, and a sister, Gloria (Larry) Backus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 11:00am at Christ the King Church on 17th Street and Woodruff in Idaho Falls. Everyone is invited to a celebration of Dick's life, immediately following the funeral, at Christ the King Parish Hall. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Buck Miller Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls. A Rosary will be held there at 7:00pm as well. A special thanks to EIRMC's ICU staff for their care and support and the Shelley QRU for their quick response. Richard George "Dick" Dargie, 77, of Shelley, Idaho, passed away on February 14, 2018. His loving wife, Cathy, and his family were able to be at his side.
