Richard Daniel Quesnell

Richard Daniel Quesnell 87, of Murtaugh, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. Richard was born on January 10, 1923 in Kimberly, Idaho to Archie and Anna (Martell) Quesnell. Richard attended and graduated from Kimberly High School in 1941. While in school he was a star athlete lettering in Track, Basketball, Football and Boxing. Richard with the help of 6 brothers made the Quesnell name famous in sports. Richard remembered playing quarterback in the first game held under the new lights at the Kimberly Stadium. On May 8, 1943 he married Lucille Young in Twin Falls at St. Edwards Catholic Church. To this union came 4 children. Richard farmed and ranched in Murtaugh for over 60 years. He and Lucille started with 7 head of cattle and built that to over 100. He worked hard and taught his children the value of work. He felt a great satisfaction from his ranching and lifetime accomplishments. Richard was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Richard is survived by his four children Ron Quesnell (Connie), Tim Quesnell, Cathy (Doug) Watts, Cynda Quesnell (Doug), his companion Helen Dewey, and one sister, Margaret Tilley. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Richard is preceded in death by his wife Lucille, his parents, 1 sister, and 6 brothers. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 12:00 (noon) p.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church with interment to follow at the Twin Falls Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park" with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Helen Dewey and her family for the wonderful care and concern they have given Richard over the last few years. They treated him like a "King" and brought much happiness to his life. Richard will be remembered for his great sense of humor which he shared with all. He was always "Happy" and passed that happiness on to everyone he met.
