Richard Anthony Suckel, 80, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. He was born on December 27, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas, to J.R. and Edna Mae Suckel. Richard graduated from high school in San Antonio, Texas in 1953 where he excelled in track. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1954 to 1957. On May 25, 1958, he married Wilda Renfro at Long Beach, California. He received his BS from West Coast University School of Engineering, and his MS from the University of Southern California Graduate School, and MS from the University of Idaho. He was employed in the aerospace industry in California and the INL in Idaho Falls. He was a member of Eagle Rock Baptist Church and was a member of the Gideons. Rich enjoyed camping and fishing, football and track, history, reading, music, and working out with weights. Survivors include his wife, Wilda of Idaho Falls; his sons, Richard of Long Beach California, Nathan (Melissa) of Boise, and Gregory (Theresa) of Idaho Falls; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Edna Akers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Eagle Rock Baptist Church, 1080 South Bellin Road in Idaho Falls, with Pastor Mark Bevis, officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Suggested Memorial Contributions may be made to The Gideons.
