Robert "Roy" Adolfson

Robert LeRoy (Roy) Adolfson, 82, of Idaho Falls, died February 23, 2013, at his home. He was born January 9, 1931, in Shelley, Idaho to Carl and Olga (Everett) Adolfson. He grew up in Firth and graduated from Firth High School in 1949, where he was student body president and participated in high school athletics. On September 17, 1950, he married Bertha Irene Roh at St. John's Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Roy spent over 40 years farming and raising dairy cows in Firth, Idaho. In 1995 Roy and Bertha sold the farm and moved to Idaho Falls. He had a passion for airplanes and had his private pilot's license at age 16. He was one of the pioneers of Red Baron RC Modelers Airplane Club and spent many years building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, and camping with his family especially at Red Fish Lake and Bear Lake. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Firth for many years and later a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. Survivors include his six children, Terry (Debbie) Adolfson of Nampa, Laurie (Marty) Ballain of Idaho Falls, Bob (Crystal) Adolfson of Shelley, Becky (Steve) Miller of Brigham City, Utah, Scott Adolfson of Idaho Falls, and Christy (John) Tenerowicz of Shelley; one sister, DeAune (Dee) Nelson of Idaho Falls and one brother, Ed Adolfson of Firth; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha, and his parents. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, March 1, 2013, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 455 W. Sunnyside in Idaho Falls with Pastor Larry Cudmore officiating. The family will visit with friends and family at 10:00 am prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to a charity of your choice. Funeral services are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls. The family would like to thank Hands of Hope Hospice for their support.
