Robert G. Esterholdt, 69, of Buhl, Idaho passed away Sunday July 8, 2012 at St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was born September 17, 1942 to Margaret Clark and Grant Esterholdt in Pegram, Idaho.
After attending Montpelier High School he attended Police Academy until joining the Army in 1962 where he served in Vietnam. After his military service he ranched until becoming a Deputy Sheriff in Custer County in 1973. He served in this capacity until 1981 when he became a long-haul truck driver.
In 1993 he started B & T Truck Driving School and served as the owner/operator until retirement in 2006. Since that time he has driven school bus for the Buhl School District until his passing.
Robert loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He especially loved his road bike and riding along side his good friends. He also served as Road Captain for the Idaho Motorcycle Club. Robert was known for his great sense of humor and always had a one-liner ready to go. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need and was always ready to help. More than anything, he loved his family and grandchildren very much and was proud of each of them.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dennis and Larry, and a sister, Marsha Singleton; as well as a former wife, Sue Justesen Esterholdt.
Robert is survived by a sister Connie (Larry) Clever; his four sons, Mark and Darin of Pocatello, Scott (Denene) Esterholdt of Ammon, Idaho, and Ty (Gloria) Justesen. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and a very special friend, Roy Ahrens and her children Miranda Ahrens and Morgan Fenstermaker; as well as his riding buddies, Larry Geren, George Hoffman, and Blair Bobletz, the "other Bob".
A memorial service in Robert's honor will be held Saturday July 14, 2012 at Calvary Chapel in Buhl, Idaho at 2:30pm with Pastor Jackie Roberts officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Lance Cox and the staff at White Mortuary.
