Robert Earl Evans was born to Lenard and Wilma Evans in Fruitland. He graduated from Fruitland High School; while in school he excelled in football and basketball and had the nickname of "Moose".
He did his service in the Army for three years in Germany and parts of Europe. After returning home, he married Eva Loundsbury and they had three children. Sometime later he married Wanda Fuchs and they had a daughter together. Wanda brought a son, Chad, to the marriage.
Dad was a talented salesman; working at several manufactured home lots. He had his own business in Burns, OR. He worked for several grocery stores including Lenard's Grocery (family owned), as a butcher and manager.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman, fishing the Blue Ribbon Silver Creek, hunting several species of big game and playing golf for several years. He was able to visit his adopted home of Ireland at least twice. When he returned with his native tongue his Cronies would accuse him of speaking "Bobinese". He could be found in the Brunswick Club most mornings drinking coffee and playing Gin with his crew. Dad had a very competitive spirit, as all remembers.
Dad we will all miss you and tip one for you.
He is survived by his children, Garth, Paula, Tucker and Alicia; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His dad Lenard, mother Wilma, older brother Lanane, and grandson Trevor Skaret preceded him in death.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12th at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland. Condolences can be made to Robert's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.
