Robert "Bob" Franklin King passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in his
home surrounded by his family. Bob was the son of William J. and Clara
Fairman King. On January 28, 1931, in Boise Idaho the twins, Bobby and Billy
were born. Four months later with their sister Mary Ruth and their parents the
twins moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. In 1941, the family suffered a tragedy in the death of ten year old Billy.
Bob attended school in Twin Falls Idaho, graduating in 1949. He had played
football as a lineman and right guard and received a football scholarship to
Idaho State College where he majored in Pharmacy. His schooling was
interrupted by the Korean Conflict. He joined the United States Air Force and
was sent to Germany. Because of his enthusiastic personality and love of people, he received
many opportunities for leadership. Upon his return to ISU, he served as student
body president. While there he met and married Diane Jones in the Idaho Falls
temple, December 17, 1958. They settled in Twin Falls, Idaho. Their family
consisted of two boys and two girls: John, Lillie, Dan, and Karen. Bob became
Bishop of the LDS Church 1st Ward. He continued serving faithfully in many leadership positions including that
of being a counselor in the Twin Falls, Idaho Temple. Bob loved music, he
played the trombone in various symphonies, had his own dance band in college
and played in community productions and the Twin Falls City band. He was an
active supporter to the Boy Scouts of America and was presented the Silver
Beaver Award. He owned and operated the Professional Pharmacy in the Twin
Falls Clinic for many years. Survivors include his wife, Diane, his sons John (Michelle), Dan (Dana)
and daughters Lillie (Stan Sandstrom) and Karen (Daniel Congram). There are
thirteen grandchildren. Brothers, Mike King (Jeannette), David King (Cathy) and
sister Ann Allen. Those who preceded him in death were: his parents, a sister
Jean Marie, Mary Ruth (Dale Hobson), and brothers Billy and Julian "Jo" (Au
Dean). Funeral services for Bob will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Twin Falls LDS Stake Center, 2085 South Temple Drive with Bishop Mitchell Moffitt conducting. Burial will follow at Twin Falls Cemetery. Military honors by Magic Valley Honor Guard and Idaho National Guard. A viewing for family and friends will take place on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at White Mortuary, 136 4th Ave. East, as well as from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at the church.
