Robert V. "Bob" Coffman

Robert Vernon "Bob" Coffman, 81, of Ontario, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2014 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center - Ontario. A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 21st at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 22nd at Rosedale Memorial Gardens, Payette. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to Bob's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Bob was born in Weiser, Idaho to Everett and Hazel Coffman. He grew up in Midvale, Idaho where he attended school until graduation in 1951. In 1953 Bob joined the Air Force, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He transferred to the Air Force Reserves in 1954 and went home to Midvale to run the family farm upon the death of his father. He was honorably discharged from the reserves in 1961. In 1955 he married Marilee Foster, they had three children, Steven, Katherine "Lori", and Robert "David". Bob spent time on the Boise, Idaho police force and the Fairbanks, Alaska police force. In the 1960's Bob left the police force and started remodeling flood damaged homes in Alaska. He also was a pilot and ran an air service station in Nenana, Alaska. In the 1970's he came to Idaho to remodel his mother's home on the Washoe bench in Payette. He married Sherena Denten in 1976 and they had one child, Daniel. Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved playing horseshoes, softball and generally being outdoors, He loved music and played the mandolin, banjo, guitar, and piano. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; step father Gerald Moore; sisters Phyliss, Norma, Rose Marie; and his wife Sherena. He is survived by his sister Olive (Lonnie) Davis; his brother Bill (Jeannie) Coffman; his children Steven (Christa) Coffman, Lori (John) Williams, David (Sandra) Coffman, and Daniel (Leah) Coffman; his step children Annette (Kevin) Thomas, Dale (Beverly) Denten, Jon (Dagney) Denten, and Christina (Duane) Higley; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
