RONALD DEAN SCHOEN - PAYETTE
Ronald Dean Schoen, 83, of Payette, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center - Boise. Ron did not want a funeral service His family will gather to lay him to rest with his beloved wife, Barbara on their anniversary. On Sunday, February 15th there will be an open house for family and friends at Country Village Clubhouse from 4-6pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Ron and his twin brother Don were born in Cawker City, Kansas on September 21, 1931 to Leo and Mildred (Hotle) Schoen. His family moved to Idaho in 1936 during the Depression and Dust Bowl. With the exception of the military and schooling, he resided in Payette his entire life.
Ron served in the Air Force from 1950-1954. He attended Boise Junior College for one year then later graduated from Kinman Business University in Spokane in 1956.
Ron married Barbara Johnson on February 15, 1963. Ron's family was extremely important to him. He and Barbara successfully raised six children and later were fortunate to be blessed with 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Ron was admired as a hard worker. He worked at Wells and Davies, Inc. and American Fine Foods then served as Chapter 12 Trustee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. He finally retired in 2003. Ron was an active, involved member of his community. He was proud to be from Payette and cherished his life and friends there. He was involved in numerous civil organizations, too many to list. Over the years, he was especially active in the Payette United Methodist Church. He served on numerous boards, primarily in a finance role. His faith and service to the church was extremely important to Ron.
Ron is survived by his children, Mary Jean (Bruce) Kauffman of Ocean Park, WA, Shelley (Jim) Curtis of Portland, OR, Laurie (Dan) Dorman of Lewiston, ID, Mike Schoen of Everett, WA, Chris (Lisa) Schoen of Boise, ID, son-in-law, Dick (Shirleen) Coleman of Hailey, ID; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Marcoux of Boise, ID and Carol Schoen of Payette, ID; brother-in-law, Richard (Sharon) Watson of Oakhurst, CA; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ron was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; his daughter Marilyn Coleman; his parents; and twin brother Don.
His children would like everyone to know how fortunate they feel to have been raised by such a remarkable father. He instilled his values in all of us, from the importance of getting a good education to living a happy, honest life with the people you love.
