With a house full of noisy grandchildren and surrounded by the love of his children and wife, Ronel Gary Weber passed away from a short battle with liver cancer on the afternoon of May 31, 2014.
Ron was born November 22, 1940, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to John William Weber and Norma Jean Mansfield. Living and roaming the mountainsides of Klamath made a lasting impression on Ron his entire life. He loved the outdoors, animals, and working on his cabin in Island Park. His keen sense of humor and dry wit was renowned to those who knew him and will be missed. Ron attended Klamath Union High School, and it was during his junior year that he met Beverely Faye Esgate. Ron graduated in 1959 and was accepted into California Polytechnic State University where he wanted to study forestry. But according to Dad, Mom had "her hooks in him," and instead, he attended Oregon Technological Institute and graduated with a degree as an automotive machinist in June of 1961. Ron and Bev were married June 18, 1961, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. In April of 1962, Ron and Bev left their childhood home to begin a new life in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Dad accepted a job as a maintenance mechanic in the reactor for Argonne National Laboratory, and he worked there for the next 37 years. In 1962, their first child, Teresa, was born. Susan was born in 1965, followed by Jerry in 1966. Bringing up the rear was his son, Jim, who was born on his birthday in 1969. Family meant everything to Dad, and he and Mom raised their children in an atmosphere of unconditional love. They instilled in all of us the deep belief that family always came first. Ron is survived by his wife, Bev of Idaho Falls; daughters, Teresa Weber of Idaho Falls and Susan (Bill) Newton of Morgan Hill, California; sons, Jerry Weber of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jim (Brenda) Weber of Idaho Falls; grandsons, Thomas (Nataliya) Bala of Fort Drum, New York; Erik Wadkins, Washington, D.C.; and Nathan Weber of Idaho Falls; granddaughters, Jennifer Bala (Pocatello, Idaho); Jessika Weber (Glendale, Arizona); Sydney Weber (Missoula, Montana); Jaidon Weber, and Kylie Weber of Idaho Falls; and great-granddaughter, Aleksandra Bala of Fort Drum, New York. He is also survived by his mother, Norma Jean Weber of Portland, Oregon; brother, John (Carol Anne) Weber of Olympia, Washington; and sister, Lee Anne (George) Carter of Portland, Oregon. Ron was preceded in death by his father, John Weber. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7th at 2:00 P.M. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or to the Bonneville Humane Society.
