Rosa M Bowles

Rosa M. Bowles aka Yahaira, age 79, of Ammon, Idaho passed away on June 13, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Juan and Maria Castañer. She was educated in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she graduated high school. She began her career as a travel agent before meeting the love of her life, Craig, her husband of 54 years at the Condado beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1969. They were married the following year in Old San Juan.

As a Navy wife, she followed Craig to South Wales, Bermuda, Florida, Virginia, Hawaii, Mississippi, California, and Washington, and finally settled in Idaho. Craig and Rosa retired from the Navy in 1992 when she began a new career as a belly dancer and ultimately opened her belly dance studio, Yahaira's Danse Oriental. She expanded her belly dance viewing audience further on Idaho public television. She also sponsored many belly dance festivals, taking her dance troop to various venues from Boise to Salt Lake City.

When not belly dancing, she was an avid book reader, loved to crochet, and was keenly interested in old Egyptian history. She was fluent in Spanish and English and sometimes created her own language Spanglish.

Rosa is survived by her husband, Craig, of Ammon, Idaho, and two children Brigette Bowles, Camarillo, CA, and Nikki Sloan, Mill Valley, CA, and one granddaughter, Elle, Mill Valley, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents and one older brother, Jaime.

Visitation/vigil and rosary will be held at Buck-Murphy Funeral Home on Monday, June 24, 2024 located at 825 E. 17th St. Idaho Falls at 6 p.m. followed by a Catholic Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 25 located at 1690 E. 17th Street Idaho Falls at 11 a.m.
