Roscoe was born Idaho Falls, ID on November 6th, 1924. The son of Ellwood James Patton of Mexico Missouri, and Hazel Carolyn Peterson-Patton of Idaho Falls. Roscoe was their fourth child and their only son. Roscoe and his four sisters Ardis, Marian, Beverly and Lorraine grew up in Idaho Falls and Tucson, AZ.
Roscoe graduated from Tucson high School in 1942 where he was the editor of the Cactus Chronicle student newspaper, became an Eagle Boy Scout, and was awarded the Distinguished Sharpshooter Medal in the junior division of the National Rifle Association. Wanting to do his part for the war effort, Roscoe was admitted into West Point Military Academy where he continued his sharpshooting as part of the West Point Rifle Team and distinguished himself academically. He graduated from West Point in 1946. Since the war was winding down at that time, and the Army's need for officers was rapidly diminishing, he was not offered his commission. He then decided to continue his education at the University of Arizona where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1948. After completing his education Roscoe moved back to New York where he pursued a career in the aerospace defense industry and worked for Sperry Gyroscope. During that time he met and subsequently married Susan Johnson and started his family. A few years later he and Susan moved to New Hampshire, first living in Amherst and later in Nashua where Roscoe had acquired property from New Hampshire Governor Hugh Gregg. While living in New Hampshire Roscoe continued working in the defense industry where he worked for Sanders Associates and was involved in Project Tinker Toy which eventually led to the development of the internet as we know it today. Roscoe and Susan subsequently divorced. In 1969 Roscoe sought to start his life anew and moved to Boulder, CO where he met and subsequently married Laraine Holcombe in 1970. Roscoe then changed careers in 1971 and became a stock broker working with Boettcher & Company in Boulder, CO. Roscoe and Laraine relocated to Twin Falls, ID in 1975. He continued to work as a stock broker with Edward Jones Investments and subsequently Raymond James Financial where he owned and operated the Twin Falls branch office. Roscoe continued to work serving the financial needs of his clients until he sold his practice in February of 2014 and retired when he was 89 years old. During his years in Twin Falls Roscoe was a faithful 34 year member of the Twin Falls Reformed Church where he was an active Bible Study member and occasional leader. Roscoe is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Laraine Patton, his sons Christopher Patton of Minneapolis, MN, Jeffrey Patton of Nanaimo Canada, his step-sons Charles and David Holcombe of Sebastopol, CA and Michael Holcombe of Minneapolis MN, and his grandsons James Patton, Aaron Patton Morrow, Andrew Patton, Phillip Patton, Norman Patton, Erik Patton, Joshua Patton, Jeremiah Patton, Josiah Patton, Jeffrey Isaac Patton, Elijah Holcombe, Jahshua Holcombe, Dane Holcombe, and great-grandchildren Christina Patton and Daniel William Roscoe Patton who is now just 10 days old..
