Rudy Cordova was born in Embudo, New Mexico September 18, 1947 to Jose and Merlinda Cordova. He passed away peacefully June 7, 2020 in Idaho Falls after a valiant battle with lung cancer.
Rudy was raised in Chamisal, NM. He attended elementary school in Chamisal, junior high school in Penasco and High School at Menaul in Albuquerque and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1965. After attending 1 year at New Mexico State University he enlisted in the US Navy and served 8 years from 1967 to 1976.
After that, Rudy was employed as Senior Reactor Engineer at the Idaho National Laboratory for 39 years. He was honored for his dedicated service at the Advanced Test Reactor and INL at his retirement.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family and hiking in the mountains especially in Yellowstone National Park.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Irina, son Michael of Idaho Falls, daughter Sunny (Alfred) of San Antonio, TX, grandsons Mason Mathena and Nickolas Lopez, daughter Abigail (Quinton) of Orem, UT and their eight children. His siblings Eugene of Salt Lake City, Adrian and Kathy (Ray) of Chamisal, NM. Preceded in death by his parents Jose and Merllinda, and son Joshua.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of Aspen Home Health and Hospice and Idaho Community Hospital for their compassion, kindness and loving care of Rudy. He will be missed by all who loved him.
A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
