Sallye Horton Lutes Banister, 84 yrs, passed away peacefully at home with her daughters, Rhonda and Linda, holding her hands early morning April 15, 2024.
Sallye is survived by all her children:
Rhonda (Eric)Olson, Donald Lutes, Linda Phelps, Gordon Lutes.
Maydeana (Paul)Pattison, Matthew (Corinne) Banister, Suzie (Chuck) Waters and Connie Johnson.
Many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Her Brothers: Joel (Mary) Horton, Cherry Ray (JoAnn) Horton, Mike (Sharon) Horton, Gary (Linda) Horton
And her Sister: Sherry (John) Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Francis Horton and Larry Horton and her sister Myrna Henning.
Sallye was born in Mineola, TX to Mayron and Hazel Cherry Horton on April 3, 1940. She spent her childhood traveling with her family through the oilfields of the West. She graduated from High School in Snyder,TX.
She married Donald Lutes and raised 4 children in Los Alamos, CA, they later divorced. She then moved to Idaho Falls, ID and married Wyndell Banister and combined families totaling 8 children. Together they followed the Morgan Horse Show circuit with their numerous quality Morgan horses.
After retirement they enjoyed the Snowbird lifestyle wintering in Yuma, AZ and spending summers in mom’ s favorite place on earth-her property in the Yellowjacket above Challis, ID.
She had a strong Christian faith having been raised in the Southern Baptist Church. Later attending the Church of Christ, Idaho Falls and the First Bible Baptist Church of Idaho Falls. Per her request, Sallye wished to be cremated and returned to “the Mountain”
Services will be held at Church of Christ, Idaho Falls, 2:00 pm, Saturday April 27, 2024.
The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Scott Taylor for his years of excellent care and to the Hospice of Eastern Idaho for their tender care given to mom!
