Steve James

Steven was born July 29, 1943 in Terre Haute, IN to Anna (Gallez) and Richard Melvin James. He grew up in Seelyville, In. and graduated from Glenn High School 1961 and from Rose Hulman in 1965. He was the first student to graduate from Rose Hulman with a degree in mathematics. He continued with post-graduate studies at University of Colorado in Boulder.

Survivors include his sisters, Linda Lortz, (Eric), Louisville, KY, and Donna Huxel, (Gary). Terre Haute, IN.; Nephews Ryan Lortz; Louisville, KY, Reid Lortz, Sarasota, FL; Tysen Huxel Indianapolis, IN.; and his beloved dog Callie; Cousins Jonathon and Connie James, Wheatland, In, Joanna & John Cundiff, Terre Haute. Susanna James, Seelyville.

Steve was proceeded in death by his wife Ann, his parents, grandparents, Arthur and Mae James; Abraham and Sarah Gallez; uncles Francis (Maxine) Gallez, and Art James, Kenneth James; and aunt Helen James.

Steve was a wonderful, caring and unselfish older brother, and son to his family. He was a devoted God-fearing man of great faith.

A memorial service will be held at Hope Lutheran on 12th Street in Idaho Falls at 11 AM on October 5th, 2024. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hope Lutheran Church or Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana.
