Thelma Marie Cole, a long-time resident of Idaho Falls, died Wednesday July 8, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington. Thelma was 83 and passed peacefully with her son Marc by her side. Thelma was born June 20, 1932 in Artesia New Mexico to Elsie Elma and James Murphy Hayhurst. The youngest of three daughters, her mother was a school teacher and her father a rancher. Thelma married Jerry Taylor Cole in 1950 and soon after started her family in Albuquerque. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1963 with their three sons. Active in the equestrian community, she often kept a large garden, played Bridge and enjoyed a full time career as a paralegal. After Thelma was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2009 she moved to the Seattle area near her son Marc. Thelma is survived by her older sister Louise Taylor of Pecos Texas, and her sons Lance and his wife Donna, Brent, Marc and his wife Jeanette, and Kevin. She has six grandchildren; Amy, Kim, Trevor, Susan, Jason, and Kacey and six great grandchildren. Thelma is predeceased by her older sisters Martha Juanita Hayhurst, Dorothy Funk, and her step-brother Murphy Hayhurst. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 17, 2015 , at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E 17th Street in Idaho Falls .
