Toni Marie Smith was larger than life, a woman of substance. She was
born January 10, 1947 in Fort Stockton, TX and passed May 15, 2012 at
the age of 65. She was married in 1969 to Kenny Smith. They had three
children together. Her creativity showed in her stunning quilt
designs, her no-nonsense parenting and in her pioneering spirit. Her
original quilt designs were published in several magazines. She left a
legacy of dozens of original foundation piecing patterns as well as
beautiful crochet and knit pieces including tablecloths, hats, socks
and exquisite quilts. She traveled for much of her life, residing in
such countries as Greece, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
She loved learning about different cultures and traveled to countries
including Thailand, Bali, Hong Kong, and Germany. She loved good food
and was an excellent cook. She was a fantastic teacher and a
Jill-of-all-trades. She was a voracious reader with a fondness for
Science Fiction/Fantasy. She was a big game hunter and a fisherwoman. If it
was a beautiful day, she'd be out fishing. She was preceded by her parents, Bessie Jo Frye and William Dunn and
her son, Robert Smallwood. Her husband Ken and her children Sammi,
Sunni and Bruce will miss her dearly. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.buckmillerhann.com.
