Vernon P Rieth

IDAHO FALLS - Vernon P. Rieth, 84 of Idaho Falls died Thursday, November 15, 2012, at his home in Idaho Falls surrounded by his loving family after fighting a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. He was born on February 26, 1928, at Woodward, Oklahoma, the son of John and Martha Brenner Rieth. Vernon spent his earlier years in Woodward, Oklahoma where he attended Woodward High School. He married Margurite Mary Hernandez on September 4, 1950, in Blackfoot. Vernon was a hard worker, working in farming, Boise Cascade Lumber Company, Meyers & Squires, Western Wholesale installing garage doors, and had owned his own flooring company. He was an active member of the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Vernon loved fishing, golfing, bowling, reading and making rosaries. Vernon was a family man with a sense of humor and a heart of gold. Survivors include his wife, Margurite Rieth of Idaho Falls; three children, Cheri Rieth and her fiancé Scott Church of Nashville, Tennessee, Douglas (Lori) Rieth of Twin Falls, and Maria (Tony) Botero of Idaho Falls; four brothers, Arthur (Mary Ellen) Rieth, Donald (Dolores) Rieth, Eugene (Doris) Rieth all of Idaho Falls and Edward (Rosie) Rieth of Hattieville, Arkansas; a sister, Donna (Marvin)McCall of Hattieville, Arkansas; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death be his parents and a sister, Adele. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24. 2012, at Christ The King Catholic Church on the corner of 17th and Woodruff, with Father Raul Covarrubies, celebrant. A Rosary will be recited on Friday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a gathering following from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E 17th Street in Idaho Falls. Vernon's family would like to thank Hands of Hope Hospice, his nurses and aides, Tiffany, Susan, Lindsay and Audra, to Court and David his adopted grandsons for there love, kindness, and fish stories.
