Virginia Helen Amendola

February 19, 1923 — March 12, 2014

Virginia Helen Amendola, 91, of Payette, passed away, Wednesday, March 12, 2014. There will be a Celebration of Life for Virginia on March 19th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Eagle Lodge in Payette. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to Virginia's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Virginia was born Feb. 19, 1923 in Visalia, CA to Frank Amendola and Grace Absher. She grew up on a farm in Exeter, CA, where her family owned a vineyard and grew table grapes. She met and married Everett Phillips. Virginia had two children, Eyvonne and Kenneth. Everett was killed in action in WWII. Virginia worked for Harts Department store in Reno, NV. When the store closed, Virginia moved to San Jose, CA and worked for FMC building Army tanks. Upon retirement Virginia moved to Payette to be near her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of Eagles and Syringa Lions and a life time member of the VFW. She was very active in these organizations, working tirelessly in every task assigned to her. Virginia is survived by her oldest brother Frank Amendola, TX; her children Eyvonne Nichols and Kenneth (Linda) Phillips, of Payette; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren great-great grandchildren and three great-great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; younger brother Kenneth; son-in-law Elmer; grandson Ronnie; grandson-in-laws Brent, Mark, and Scott; great grandchildren Amy and Travis; and great-great granddaughter Mariah. The family requests in lieu of flowers a donation may be given in Virginia's memory to Syringa Lions, VFW or Eagle Lodge of Payette, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
