Virginia B. O'Dell

Virginia Bracken O'Dell passed away October 13, 2015 at Bridgeview Estates care center. Virginia was born to Craig T. and Pearl A. Bracken on Dec 12, 1933 in Twin Falls, ID. She had two brothers Frank K. Bracken of Pullman, WA and Craig A. Bracken of Cincinnati, OH who both preceded her in death. Virginia followed in her Mother's footsteps and attended Idaho State University to obtain her Bachelor's degree in Education in 1955. After graduation, she began teaching in Mountain Home, ID for 6 years and Hansen, ID for 2 years before transferring to Twin Falls, where she taught at O'Leary Junior High for 27 years. She retired in 1995. Virginia married Clyde K. O'Dell in 1958; together they had three children before divorcing in 1969. Virginia was active in the First Presbyterian church for many years and volunteered her time as a Teacher, Elder and Deacon in the church. She also enjoyed many bus tours with the Harris group after her retirement. In addition to her church activities, she was a member of the National Historical Society and volunteered at the Historical Museum in Curry. She is survived by her three children, Mike (Sarah) O'Dell, Salt Lake City, UT, Cindy O'Dell, Boise, ID and Pam O'Dell, Twin Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by her two granddaughters, Cierra and Savannah of Boise, ID. A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Presbyterian Church, 209 5th Ave. North, Twin Falls, with Pastor Phil Price officiating. Services are under the direction of White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, Twin Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund in Virginia's name. She was a longtime supporter of this fund as her father Craig T.
