Von Gail (Colledge) Hamilton, 88, a 17 year resident of New Plymouth, ID, died Saturday, 4 June 2016 after experiencing several recent health issues. Born 16 April 1928 at Coshocton, OH, youngest daughter of John McCarroll and Anna Rose (Myers) Colledge, Von spent her childhood and early adult years in East Liverpool, OH where she graduated from East Liverpool High School with the Class of 1945. After two earlier marriages she married Paul A. Hamilton on 26 Jan 1961 at Bridgeport, OH and they were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 2 Sep 1962 in the Tabernacle on Temple Square. Their marriage was solemnized on 6 June 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple. Paul died 15 Feb 2009. Von is currently a member of the 2nd Ward of New Plymouth. An accomplished writer, Von has published a number of books and genealogical reference aids plus three family histories and several gift-type books. Her career has included 25 years of teaching Advanced Genealogical Research Procedure for her church plus many years as a private researcher. Her 1,000,000+ lines of computerized EVERY-NAME INDEXING of 48 large county and locality histories were donated to USGENWEB in 2001 to be made available on the Internet to researchers everywhere. Her family histories include LABOR OF LOVE - a history of her Colledge family, taking the lineage back into the late 1500's; her 2 volumes of WORK FAMILY HISTORY (part of Paul's lineage) - first of which was judged "the finest of its kind" by Milton Rubincam, the longtime reviewer for the National Genealogical Quarterly. Next came EICHER NAME IN AMERICA, the lineage of one of Von's Grandmothers. Von retired in 1991 from Intel Corporation where she was active in Intel University's Corporate Training Department which included up dating, developing and teaching Intel Policies and Procedures to new-hire Administrative personnel. During her 8 years as Administrative Associate to the head of the Production Planning Department, Von was privileged to support a group of 16 Israeli trainees who would become part of the management team of an Intel facility being built in Israel. She later visited Israel and two of her gift books are about her experiences with them - a major highlight of her busy life; they are SABRAS YEAR and NEXT YEAR, JERUSALEM. Also written during her Intel years - COMMUTING CONVERSATIONS - photos and brief commentary on elegant sunrises and sunsets as she drove her 35 mile commute; DON'T QUIT THE HOUR BEFORE THE MIRACLE - a self-help book about Von's painful journey and recovery from co-dependency. Von's most recent accomplishment has been her 500 page autobiography entitled ON LEAVING which was a 2004 Christmas gift to all her descendants. Her two years of weekly columns for the New Plymouth News about their beloved dog, Junior, was well received and she followed up with poems about growing up in the 1930's from TUGS ON MY SLEEVE and later humorous anecdotes from her journal entries, mostly about her long, laughing life. Von Gail is survived by one son, Thomas Paul Trevor of Wellsville, OH; three daughters, Ardyth Anne Young of Ontario, OR, Constance Gail Brown of Chatsworth, CA, and Miriam Hope Barber; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
