Wayne Berggren

September 12, 1938 — December 31, 2022

Wayne Berggren, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away Saturday morning, December 31st, 2022.

Wayne was born September 12th, 1938, to Albin and M. Fern Berggren.  He grew up on the family farm and attended O.E. Bell Jr. High and Idaho Falls High School.

He attended John Brown University in Arkansas where he met Betty Mae Swancott. They were later married in New Hampshire with Reverend Lew M. Swancott, Betty’s father, officiating.

Wayne had many jobs while attending different colleges. Bus driving in Clackamas, Oregon while living in Milwaukee, Oregon. In March of 1971, he brought his family back to the Idaho Falls area.

Wayne worked for Sayer Brothers on Northgate Mile as a mechanic until 1975 when he started his own excavation business, Mountain Branch Construction Company.

Ornery, stubborn and opinionated, Wayne was an excellent listener and always generous with all he had; time, money, and energy. He commanded respect, was friendly and direct (you always knew where you stood with him). He always made sure you knew about Jesus and the free gift of Salvation.

Although he will be greatly missed, it is such a comfort to know that he went home and met his Lord and Savior, Jesus.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty, his three children, his brother, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held July 8th, 2023 at the Berggren Compound.
