H. Wayne Webster
Sept. 6, 1925 ~ Sept. 18, 2015
H. Wayne Webster, 90, of Filer passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 at his home in Filer, Idaho.
Born on a ranch to a ranch hand, Wayne began life much the way he lived most of it...near horses and cattle.
Born on the Eccles Ranch near Montello, Nevada on Sept. 6, 1925 he was the second of what would ultimately be 6 children of Richard D. and Martha A. (Sierer) Webster. His fiery temperament as a child and as an adult would most likely come from the fact that he was raised on mare's milk for the first week of his life.
As a small babe in arms, he and his mother made the trek from Montello to Filer, Idaho to visit family members at the Sierer homestead north of Filer. This would prove to be his new home for the rest of his childhood. His mother returned to the ranch in a few weeks leaving the babe to be cared for by his maternal Grandmother, Bertha Bertch Sierer and his Uncle and Aunt, Ted and Doris Sierer...whom he considered as his "adopted" parents for the rest of his life.
After attending schools in Filer and traveling throughout much of the northwest in search of jobs and adventure, he enlisted in the US Navy in 1943. His first service post was in Washington State where he was assigned to a new ship still being built. The USS Sitkoh Bay, an aircraft carrier.
Following his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1946 he returned home to Filer where he met the love of his life and future wife, Louise Coats. They were married on October 22, 1947. Through the trials and tribulations of life and death together they raised four children. Steven, Richard, JoAnn and Jeffery.
Working on Farms, Ranches and in the Telephone industry had them moving throughout the Northwest to several locations and towns but ultimately to Acme Manufacturing in Filer, Idaho where he spent 25 years before retiring to care for Louise, in 1991. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Louise (1995), a son Steven (1984), a daughter JoAnn (1958), and all of his siblings both older and younger. Dale Webster, Jim (Dunk) Webster, Bette Gressett, William (Bill) Webster and Jack Webster.
He is survived by his sons Richard D. (Irma) Webster of Avondale, Arizona and Jeffery M. (Trish) Webster of Twin Falls, Idaho.
Rest in Peace, Dad.
