He was born June 29, 1951, to William "Bill" R. Clay and Bonnie Jean Hammer Clay Ashment. He grew up in a large family and started working at a young age to support his family. At 8 years old, he started working with his father at Clay's Arrow Body Shop. As he got older, he went to work at Coneon's Body Shop. He eventually got hired on at the INEL, where he started as a laborer and took years of schooling to become an electrician. He retired in 2006. On Oct. 11, 1980, he married Deborah Jean Brandon. They spent the rest of his life enjoying each other and raising their children and children from previous marriages. Their happiest times together were camping, fishing, family barbecues and working on their yard to make it their own God's little acre. Brad also loved leather work, painting, music and all his pets. Brad is survived by his wife, Deborah, of 31 years; his children, daughters, Amber Deann (Chris) Smith and Trista (Rob) Kloack; son, Brian Clay; and stepdaughters, Heather Welch and Jamie Fancher; 10 grandchildren; mother, Bonnie; brother, Gary Clay; sisters, Lolita (Bob) Jones, Sandy (Floyd) Board, Sherri (Paul) Long and Janet (Jeff) Farnes. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill; and brothers, Rodney and Bruce Clay. Everyone who knew Brad knows that he was a simple and casual man, so his requests are the same. There will be a casual graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by a celebration of his life with family and friends at his home.
