William "Bill" Newton Marsh, passed away quietly on the morning of June 15, 2016. Bill was born in Washington, DC on January 23, 1919 to David and Anna (Hinze) Marsh. Bill had two older brothers: George and Robert and one younger brother Paul, who all preceded him in death. Bill graduated from Burlingame High School in Burlingame, CA in 1937 and promptly joined the Merchant Marine Reserves. Bill later joined the Army Air Corps and served during World War II where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Bill met Lydia Flowers in 1942 in Dallas, TX and married in February 1944. Together they greeted William Francis (1944) and Robert Wesley (1947) into their family. Lydia preceded Bill in death, passing away in 1953. Bill then met Maryedith Reed, and they married in June 1957. Together they added Theresa Marie (1958), Katharine Anne (1959), Suzanne Louise (1961) and Charles Patrick (1962) into their family. Maryedith preceded Bill in death, passing away in 2008. Bill primarily worked as a master carpenter in California for most of his career. He retired and moved to Idaho Falls in 1976. Bill loved the outdoor activities of camping, hunting and fishing. His passions included taking care of grandchildren, dancing and wood working. His wood working skills specialized in custom gun stocks of the highest quality. While living in Idaho Falls, Bill attended Christ the King Catholic Church and moved his residence in 2009 to Fairwinds Sand Creek retirement community after the passing of Maryedith. Bill is survived by his six children, 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local veterans support organization.
