William Howard Shively

Bill was born June 23, 1931 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Steve & Gladys Shively. He spent his early years spending summers in Mud Lake farming with his Father and in winter attended school in Idaho Falls. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1951. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy and spent time in the South Pacific on a Minesweeper cleaning up after the Korean War. He married Janice Daniel on October 6, 1957 in Idaho Falls. They were blessed to have two sons, Ray and Rob. Bill spent 40 years farming with his brother Jim in Mud Lake, and then continued farming with his sons until he retired. He was a member of the Mud Lake Community Church. He was active in giving back to his community in many ways, he was a 50 year member of the Lions club and served as a director on the following boards: Mud Lake Telephone Board (50 years), Jefferson County Fair Board and Mud Lake Fair Board (30 years), West Jefferson School Board (14 years), and the Soil Conversation Board (12 years). He loved to fish, hunt, and collect rocks, coins, and guns. Bill was a man that gave freely of his time, fairly of his judgments, frequently of his advice, and fervently of his love to family. He is survived by his wife Janice of Terreton, sons Ray (Jerri) Shively of Three Forks, MT., Rob (Lisa) Shively of Terreton, brothers Jim (Jackie) Shively of Terreton, and Jerry (Ann) Shively of Idaho Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013, at the West Jefferson School District Administration Building (ALC) 1272 East 1500 North in Terreton with Pastor Bryan Gomez, officiating. Burial will follow at the West Jefferson Cemetery in Terreton. A viewing for family and friends will held Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the ALC Building. Donations in Bill's name may be sent to the Mud Lake Fair Building or the Mud Lake Community Church at the Mud Lake Branch of the Bank of Commerce P.O. Box 159 Terreton, Idaho 83450.William "Bill" Shively 81, of Terreton passed away on Thursday January 17, 2013 at Mount Vernon Assisted Living Facility in Idaho Falls.
