On Tuesday, September 22, 2015, William Morris Slusser Jr. (known to his friends as Bill) went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born in Jamaica Long Island, New York on September 23, 1944 to parents William Morris Slusser Sr. and Shirley Pentz Slusser. He is survived by his two sons David and Daniel, and their mother Sherry. Bill lived in California, Burley Idaho, and Idaho Falls, Idaho where he grew and flourished. He attended Idaho Falls High School. Later, he served in the United States Army. Afterward, Bill attended Bethany Bible College. In his time off from college, Bill also worked for the Forrest Service. Bill's time in college was cut short when the need arose to come home and take care of his mother, Shirley. He later married Sherry Kaye Flynn, and they had two sons, David and Daniel, of whom they were quite proud. Bill worked as a Materials Specialist at the INEL, and later carried out clerical duties for the same company. Bill loved to take summer vacations with his wife and boys. His favorite vacation spot proved to be Virginia City, Montana. He loved to talk about all the fun times he, Sherry and the boys had there. Bill attended Calvary Baptist church for many years. Bill truly had a heart for the ministry. He so often provided words of encouragement to those around him. He would seek out those in need, and pray for them. He would help out where he could. Bill served as "Puppet Preacher" as part of the All God's Children Puppeteers at Calvary Baptist. He also worked as a puppeteer with his boys and the rest of the puppet team. Bill also greatly enjoyed singing in the choir. As a choir member, Bill also sang in the "Singing Christmas Tree" (a great big tree that church members would construct every year). It gave him great joy serving in any capacity which he was able. Bill also enjoyed serving as a member of the live nativity scene which has been produced for many years at Calvary. I am certain that the campers enjoyed having him around at church camp as well. Bill also served a time or two in Vacation Bible School. You can be sure that Bill's heart of love and compassion flowed out to those around him. Of this we can be certain, because Bill truly emulated the heart of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church, 785 1st Street in Idaho Falls, with Pastor Matt McGukin, officiation. Burial will follow at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls, with Military Rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. Online condolences may be left at www.buckmillerhann.com.
