Yvonne Pfeifer, 74, of Fruitland, passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011 at a care facility in Emmett. A viewing will be held from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14th at the Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland. Yvonne was born in Caldwell, ID on Oct. 3, 1936 to Rolly and Gladys Bates. She attended grade school in the one room Dixie Red Top School in Greenleaf, then 6th grade through 12th grade at Caldwell. During this time she worked at Crookums Seed Company and in the Albertsons Bakery. Yvonne married Clarence Pfeifer on Dec. 22, 1954 in Caldwell. While living here they had three of their children, Cindy 1955, Terry 1956, and Ed 1960. In 1961, they moved to Fruitland. Here they added two more to their family, Eric 1965 and Kelli 1968. For a brief time she worked in the Payette/Fruitland Canneries and in a Fruitland school lunchroom. In 1965, Yvonne started working for the Fruitland School District as a school bus driver. She did this for 28 years, retiring in 2001. Also for 13 years during this time she was first a teacher's aide for the SNAP Program in the Payette School District and then for Special Ed in the Fruitland Schools. Yvonne helped start the Fruitland Boosters in 1970. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, working with "special needs" children, crafts, and painting. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Pfeifer of Fruitland; children, Cindy Tuning (Bill) of New Plymouth, Terry Farrow (Jess) of Fruitland, Ed Pfeifer (Deb) of Marsing, Eric Pfeifer (Wendy) of New Plymouth, and Kelli Cordes (Wade) of Fruitland; 10 grandchildren, Brandon, Derrick, JD, Bruce, Cory, Tim, Cody, Casey, Jennifer, and Hannah; and eight great grandchildren, Kasey, Kayleigh, Austin, Trenton, Andrew, Emily, Kolton, and Bryce.
Her parents, sister Carleen, brothers Kyle and Stan, sister-in-laws Shirley and Carol, and brother-in-laws Tom and Milan preceded her in death.
