Genevieve Yonke, 80, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at her home in Idaho Falls. Genevieve was delivered on the family farm by the local doctor in Crofton, NE, on September 15, 1933, to George and Katherine Zavadil. She was the only girl and was surrounded by four high spirited brothers. While living on the farm she developed a strong work ethic and gained her sense of responsibility that would be one of her many pillars in life. Before attending Mt. Marty High School she rode her horse to the one room school house that serviced the area. She graduated the All-Girl Catholic High School in 1951.
She met her future husband, Ervin through a mutual friend. History tells us there was always a chaperone nearby when the two would go out on a date. They were later married in 1956 and started their life journey together.
Genevieve later spent some time in Indiana, Utah and Oregon and finally ended up in Idaho and has been in Idaho since.
Through her life she kept true to her faith as well as her moral compass. Friends and family would describe her as compassionate, giving, fair, faithful and always putting others before herself.
She had four children and was lucky to be a stay at home mom until the youngest was in third grade when she once again resumed as a medical transcriptionist here in Idaho Falls.
She leaves three children, Diane Marie Yonke, Becky (Phil) Braase, and Bill Yonke, all of Idaho Falls; three brothers, Lawerence (Mary Ann) Zavadil and Jerome (Carolynn) Zavadil of Crafton, NE, and Dan (Doris) Zavadil of Meridian; and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; of course she thoroughly enjoyed being a grandma. Gen joins her husband Erv, son Daryl, her parents and brother, Ervin Zavadil in Heaven. In her own words, "I have had many blessings in my life, a loving family, good health and all those wonderful memories."
