Gerald Leon Sanford

Gerald L. Sanford, 80, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at his home in Ogden, Utah. He was born on August 10, 1934, in Cameron, Texas, to Loyd Chesterfield and Addie Mae Allison Sanford. He lived in Cameron, Texas, until 1951. He moved to Idaho Falls and graduated from high school when he was sixteen, from the old Idaho Falls High where Central used to be. He married Annette Manning Calloway in 1956 in Temple, Texas; they later divorced in Idaho Falls. He married LuRee Shannon Todd on December 1, 1972, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He got a job at C.C. Andersons when he was seventeen. He worked at the INEL since 1957, retiring from Westinghouse in 1994. He was a thirty-seven year member of the #576 Eagles, over forty year NRA member and belonged to the Box Elder Wildlife Federation Club in Utah. He was a member of the Marlow Community Baptist Church of Cameron, Texas. He loved fishing at Henry's Lake, hunting and traveling all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. Gerald was a great "storyteller" and good to his wife, children and grandchildren. Gerry had many friends because he was such a good friend. Survivors include his wife, LuRee Shannon Sanford of Ogden, Utah; six children, Cynda (Clay) Pugmire of Brigham City, Utah, Matthew Todd Sanford of Boise, Idaho, Michelle Lynne Beck of Idaho Falls, G. Shane (Rosie) Sanford of California, Mark K. Sanford of Freeport, Texas, and Ann L. Sanford of Detroit, Michigan; one brother Lloyd C. Sanford of Indianapolis, Indiana; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Alton. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls, with Pastor Larry Cudmore, officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Idaho Falls. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, all at the funeral home.
