Irene M. Crose, 73, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017, of pancreatic cancer. She was born in Weymouth, Mass., to Leo and Irene Chabot. She attended school in Weymouth, Mass. and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1962.
Following high school, Irene married her sweetheart, Jack Eugene Crose, on July 28, 1962, in Weymouth, Mass. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1963 where Irene spent working years at Albertson's. They spent many years enjoying South-East Idaho with their family and friends. Jack preceded Irene in death on April 21, 2013.
Irene will always be admired by her family for her battle against cancer. Given 3 to 6 months to live in September of 2015, she fought the disease for 19 months with dignity and without a single complaint clear to the end. During life, Irene acknowledged Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She entered His presence upon death where she now knows no pain or suffering.
Irene will be most remembered for her commitment to family. She and Jack were inseparable, traveling south each winter to Arizona where they wintered with beloved friends. She was a constant presence at her grandchildren's sporting events, cheer competitions, choir presentations, piano recitals, etc. You could count on her showing to events 10-15 minutes before anyone else. She established many family traditions, not the least of which was homemade frosted gingerbread cookies, pressed sugar cookies, and steaming caramel rolls at Christmas, passing on her baking traditions to her grandchildren.
She was a passionate Boston sports fanatic, never missing a Boston Red Sox or New England Patriots game (not to mention Celtics and Bruins). She passed this passion on to her children and grandchildren. The family snickers with fondness recounting the many occasions of her yelling at referees and players on TV though, of course, they could not hear her.
She is survived by her brother Leon, of Monument Beach, Mass; her children, Rob (Dayna) Crose and Robin (Eric) Papaioannou, both of Idaho Falls; and her five grandchildren, Cassie, TJ, Carli, Josh, and Halle.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her mother, Irene, and her father, Leo.
