Judy Ann Hancock

Our Mother, Judy Ann Hancock, 70 passed away peacefully on the morning of August 20, 2017. What a beautiful and long-awaited reunion she had that morning when she was welcomed by her daughter, her parents, 3 brothers and her grandparents.
Judy was born the fifth child of Solomon Ward Hancock and Rosetta Fife Hancock on August 31, 1946, in Rigby, Idaho. She was a spitfire from the start being born prematurely and not expected to survive. The nurse that was at her side had a prompting to give her one more shot and that one shot saved her life as it revived her. She remained a spitfire to the very end. She was named Judy Ann by her five year old sister as she was excited to get a sister, and at the time Nelda's favorite doll was named Judy Ann. Judy spent a majority of her life on and near her family farm in Lewisville. Her sister Nelda shared that when she was little she was referred to as a "Little Doodlebug," because she was the cutest little thing you had ever seen with black hair and beautiful dark brown eyes. Our mom loved to share her fondest memories of her life growing up on the farm, where she spent endless days playing cowboys and Indians with her brother Cloyd. She would be the cowboy because she wanted to ride the horse and Cloyd would be the Indian and he would run along behind. She often mentioned how much she loved playing with Cloyd because he would play whatever she wanted to play. She would spend other days looking for trouble with her brothers and sister, sometimes throwing all the chicken eggs against the barn because they wanted to find baby chicks to play with
On April 25, 1964 Judy married Dusty Umphrey in Elko, NV. From this marriage were born 5 children. They later divorced. She married Richard Wadholm July 20, 1977 in Idaho Falls, Idaho and from their marriage were born 2 children. They later divorced.
Judy found joy in serving others and this led her to work as a CNA, an EMT, and later as a bus aide on a special needs bus, but her greatest joy was found in raising her children and grandchildren. Judy loved to work outside in the yard, and always had a beautiful vegetable garden. Many came to her for her pickling cucumbers as she grew the best ones. Judy was very artistic and loved to paint ceramics, sew, quilt, crochet and cross stitch. She also loved to cook and bake and made the best homemade cinnamon rolls, homemade bread, and homemade chicken noodle soup.
Judy was preceded in death by her daughter Shawnie, parents, grandparents, and brothers: Nolan, Garen, and Cloyd.
She is survived by children; April (Ken) Straub, of Gilbert, Arizona, Bryan (Joy Lynn) Umphrey , Kayci (Rich) Oravec, and Kawnie Rasko , of Mesa, Arizona, ShaNeil Harada, of Lewisville, Idaho, and Philip (Christina) Wadholm of Nuremberg, Germany. Also surviving are: Sister Nelda (Larry) Drollinger of Lewisville, Idaho and Sister-in-law Eileen Hancock (Nathan) Hawkes of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was blessed with 22 Grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, with another arriving in January.
